Wedding Centerpieces – Floating Candles

June 15, 2011 Leave a comment

Floating candles are usually found in table centerpieces for weddings, parties, and other events. These small and delicate candles are fairly inexpensive and can change the mood instantaneously.

One thing to note about the different sizes of the floating candles is their different burn times. The thicker the core from top to bottom of the floating candle, the longer it burns. Depending on the amount of burn time you need, there is always a size that will work for you. Here are some approximate burn times for the different sizes burning candles may come in:

Small 1 ¾ inch – 4 hours
Medium 2 inches – 4-5 hours
Large 3 inches – 5-6 hours
Extra Large 4 inches – 15 hours

Working with floating candles is fairly simple. Fill a bowl ranging from 2 inches to 12 inches in diameter with water 3/4th of the way full, and place the floating candles on top of the water. You can mix and match different sizes, shapes and colors to create additional dimensions and feel to your centerpiece.

One of the most popular methods of decorating for parties are with floating candles. They are fairly inexpensive and can change the dynamics of a party significantly. Candle floaters come in a variety of sizes including small 1 ¾ inch, medium 2 inch, large 3 inch, and extra large 4 inch diameters.
Depending on the amount of burn time you need, there is always a size that will work for you. Small 1 3/4 inch floaters burn for approximately 4 hours, 2 inch floaters burn for approximately 4-5 hours, large 3 inch floaters burn for approximately 5-6 hours, and extra large 4 inch floaters burn for approximately 15 hours.

It’s easy to use floating candles as centerpiece decorations. Use a bowl ranging from 2 inches to 12 inches in diameter. Fill the bowl with water ¾ of the way full. Add the floating candles and enjoy the new mood. You can also add multiple sizes to create additional dimensions.

December 4, 2009 Leave a comment

Feeling stressed out or tired from a long day of work?  There are several ways to wind down after work. Some people go home and vege out on the couch, while others will pop open a bottle of wine and listen to soothing music.

Another alternative is to light up some aromatherapy candles around the house and let the soothing scents of the oils calm your body and mind.  Better yet, run a nice hot bubble bath and lay in the tub with a candle lit and some music playing in the background.

Check out Zest Candle’s collection of special Aromatherapy Spa Candles.  Choose among four soothing scents including Coastal Mist, Passion Fruit & Guava, Lavendar and Oak, or Tangerine Mandarin. Can’t decide? No problem, we carry a four pack votive with all four scents so you can try them all!

Shocking Halloween Silhouette Candle Creatures!

October 1, 2009 Leave a comment

halloween silouttes

As day turns to night, call on candles to cast an eerie glow throughout your home. When fierce silhouettes are propped above them, spectacular shadows dance across the walls.

Silhouette How-To
1. Print templates. Trace onto heavyweight black card stock; cut out with a utility knife. Straighten a length of 18-gauge wire, and tape one end to the back of a card-stock creature.

2. Using pliers, shape the other end of the wire into a circle large enough to loop around the bottom of a candleholder. Bend the wire so the card stock creature is positioned behind the back lip of the glass.

3. Be sure to use a candleholder that is taller than the candle, in order to keep the flame away from cutout. Adjust distance from wall to create smaller or larger shadows.
