Wedding Centerpieces – Floating Candles

Floating candles are usually found in table centerpieces for weddings, parties, and other events. These small and delicate candles are fairly inexpensive and can change the mood instantaneously.

One thing to note about the different sizes of the floating candles is their different burn times. The thicker the core from top to bottom of the floating candle, the longer it burns. Depending on the amount of burn time you need, there is always a size that will work for you. Here are some approximate burn times for the different sizes burning candles may come in:

Small 1 ¾ inch – 4 hours
Medium 2 inches – 4-5 hours
Large 3 inches – 5-6 hours
Extra Large 4 inches – 15 hours

Working with floating candles is fairly simple. Fill a bowl ranging from 2 inches to 12 inches in diameter with water 3/4th of the way full, and place the floating candles on top of the water. You can mix and match different sizes, shapes and colors to create additional dimensions and feel to your centerpiece.
